But it is not the spiritual that is first but the natural, and then the spiritual.
–1 Corinthians 15:46 (ESV)
My mother-in-law, Betty, is awesome! (don’t tell her I said that) She has lived in our home for almost seven years. I’ve known her for over 41 years. She is a spunky passionate woman who loves Jesus with all of her heart. It has been such a blessing to have her as part of our immediate family. We have been called the three stooges!
The past two weeks have been hard. She was experiencing some pain and went to her doctor which led to a chest x-ray. That started us learning about the aggressive lung cancer that is now throughout her body. Our lives have changed.
We believe in God’s miraculous healing. Healing IS coming. We trust God. He can heal temporarily or eternally.
The above verse is in the middle of Paul sharing about the resurrection body. I’ll be honest. The resurrection body sounds really good to me. I already experience aches and pains.
The natural body is flawed. It has been directly affected by sin, starting with the sin of Adam and Eve, known as “The Fall.” Since then our bodies are not perfect, the way God created them.
The above verse also shares that after the natural comes the spiritual. The resurrection body returns us to a perfect body. I know that is coming. Betty knows it is coming too.
These next months will be challenging.
BUT what is coming is amazing!!!
Prayer: Heavenly Father, life here is temporary. I look forward to the eternal. I lift up my dear mother-in-law to You, asking for her healing, for her comfort, and for peace. Bless her and all the others who are in similar circumstances. I trust You and Your plans and purposes.
