There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
–Galatians 3:28 (ESV)
I am a white, male, Protestant. I am now 65 years old. Based on what I read, people like me are responsible for so much of the evil in this world. Some say that because I am who I am, I am grouped together with those evil people.
As I look at the world around me, I see confusion. The generation of my grandchildren, just like most generations before, have confusion regarding sexuality. I think what is different is how they are affirmed in their confusion and are encouraged to be something different.
The standard of sexuality from God remains the same. Sex is reserved for marriage between a man and a woman.
Not everyone embraces that truth. I do. I believe as people accept God and His truth that His standard of sexuality leads to a better life for individuals and for our society.
Enough about sex.
With all the confusion regarding “identity,” the above verse places all such identifications as secondary to our relationship with Christ Jesus. In other words, I should be willing to give up any identity other than my identity with Jesus. Jesus determines who I am.
With Jesus there is no racial divide. There is not economic divide. There is no sexual divide. As I follow Jesus as my Lord and my Savior, I want to embrace all of His truth. I want to trust and obey.
Prayer: Almighty God. I affirm my identity as belonging to You. I trust You as my Lord. Thank you that, in Jesus, I can relax and know that I identify as a follower of You. Every other identity does not matter.
